Looking ahead to Toluca’s centenary in 2017, the directors have announced that the Estadio Nemesio Diez will undergo renovations.
“Fans, we have great news for you: Looking ahead to the centenary, the renovation of the Nemesio Diez starts this month.”
The Nemesio Diez opened in 1954 and hosted games in both the 1970 and 1986 World Cups. The 60-year-old stadium’s makeover will include the construction of a new stand to expand the overall capacity, which is currently 27,000.
The renovation was announced in a press release, in which the team guaranteed that the construction “will not prevent all of the team’s [home] games in both Liga MX and the Copa MX from continuing to take place on this historic field.”
