América vs Tigres UANL – Jornada 3 Recap and Highlights

america tigresTigres UANL defeated 10-man América 0-3 on Saturday night to end the Águilas’ perfect start to the season. The victory was the first of the Apertura for the universitarios, who are unbeaten in three.

América had the first chance of the game in the 6th minute, when Osvaldo Martínez sent his free kick attempt crashing against the woodwork. After that opportunity, Tigres slowly began to control possession, although they were lacking the final touch to trouble Hugo González.

Then, in the 37th minute, Javier Aquino scored a golazo, sending the ball into the upper corner to give the visitors the 0-1 lead.

Then, just before halftime, Renato Ibarra was given a straight red card for a foul on Juninho, leaving Ámerica down a goal and down a man with 45 minutes left to play.

In the second half, Tigres took advantage of their extra man to continue to control the game. In the 59th minute, the universitarios added to their lead through André-Pierre Gignac, who shot past the onrushing González to make it 0-2 after receiving the ball in the box.

Ismael Sosa then put the cherry on top of the win with his stoppage-time goal to give Tigres the 0-3 lead.

With the 0-3 win, Tigres reach five points while América remains on six.
