Chicharito Breaks Hand, Will Miss World Cup Qualifier

red crossMexico and Bayer Leverkusen star Javier Hernández will miss the start of the Bundesliga season, as well as Mexico’s September World Cup qualifiers, after breaking his hand.

The Bundesliga reported that Chicharito fell down the stairs in his apartment and broke a metacarpal bone in his right hand. He underwent surgery at a hospital in Merheim and is expected to be sidelined for two weeks.

He has been officially ruled out of Leverkusen’s season opener against Moenchengladbach and is likely to miss Mexico’s World Cup qualifying matches against El Salvador and Honduras on September 2nd and 6th, respectively. However, El Tri has already advanced to the next round of qualifying.
