Puebla, looking for their first road win of the season, opened the scoring on the half-hour mark. David Toledo drove to the endline and then sent the ball to the back post, where Matías Alustiza was waiting unmarked to make it 0-1.
Jaguares nearly snatched an equalizer just before halftime, but they were denied by the woodwork as Juan Patiño’s header crashed against the post.
Then, in the 57th minute, Puebla added to their lead from a set piece. Patricio Araujo nodded on a corner kick and Édgar Dueñas appeared at the far post to finish it off and give the visitors the 0-2 lead.
The game was then stopped for twenty minutes due to thunderstorms in the area, and after the break the woodwork became the star of the show. First, Alustiza was denied by the crossbar as he looked to get Puebla a third goal; then, Carlos Núñez hit the post to prevent Jaguares from reducing the deficit.
In the 90th minute, Alustiza got on the board again after he was set up perfectly by Eduardo Pérez to make it 0-3.
With the 0-3 win, Puebla reaches nine points while Jaguares remain on four.
