After analyzing the team’s current performance and results, “we have made the decision to end the working relationship with Professor Luis Fernando Tena and his technical staff,” the club wrote in a press release.
Tena took over in January of this year after Juan Antonio Pizzi left to coach the Chilean national team. Under Tena, León finished the Clausura 2016 in third place and advanced to the semifinals of the Liguilla.
The Apertura 2016 has not been kind to La Fiera, however, as they sit 18th with just four points. In the seven weeks of the season to date, León has not risen above 17th.
León thanked Tena for his professionalism and wished him success in his future endeavors. His replacement is expected to be named in the next few days.
