El Salvador will host Mexico this Friday as CONCACAF World Cup qualifying continues with the final two matchdays of the fourth round. Mexico has already qualified for the fifth and final Hexagonal round as the first place finisher in Group A, while El Salvador is on the brink of mathematical elimination.
El Salvador is currently last in Group A with two points, trailing Honduras and Canada who both have four. La Selecta must beat Mexico to remain in contention.
When these two faced off at the start of qualifying in November 2015 in the Estadio Azteca, Mexico earned a comfortable 3-0 victory. El Salvador then drew their two home games, 0-0 against Canada and 2-2 against Honduras, before falling 2-0 on the road to Honduras to remain winless in qualifying.
Mexico, on the other hand, has a perfect 4-0-0 record in the fourth round, following up their opening victory over El Salvador with away wins against Honduras and Canada and a home win against the Canadians.
All times Eastern, home team listed first.
