Apertura 2016 Week 8 Preview: Friday’s Game

liga mxVeracruz vs Pachuca – 10:00 PM – Azteca America
Veracruz (15th) drew Tigres UANL 1-1 last time out to remain unbeaten in three but winless in five. The Tiburones Rojos are also winless at home in two, although their lone win to date did come in the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente. They will look to get back to winning ways here, but they will need to tighten up defensively in order to do so; the Tiburones have been conceding two goals a game on average while playing at home.

As for Pachuca (2nd), the Tuzos drew 1-1 with Monterrey last time out to remain winless in two but remain unbeaten at home this season. Pachuca has lost their last two road games, though, and they haven’t won on their travels since July. Nevertheless, the Tuzos are tied for the second-best attack in the league and they will look to take advantage of Veracruz’s porous defense to get back to winning ways. A victory here could lift them back into first place, pending the result of Tijuana’s game on Saturday.
