León earned a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Atlas in Javier Torrente’s debut as coach of La Fiera. León scored more goals tonight than in their previous seven games combined as Atlas remained winless on the road this season.
León came out looking to take control of the match and they took the lead in just the 8th minute. Miguel Ángel Fraga wasn’t able to deal with Elías Hernández’s shot from outside the box, and Germán Cano was there to finish off the rebound.
Just four minutes later, Guillermo Burdisso made it 2-0 when he headed home a corner kick; the stunned visitors then gave up a third goal just five minutes after that, with Elías Hernández’s left-footed volley making it 3-0 in the 17th.
Atlas tried to get back into the game and in the 21st minute Jaine Barreiro reduced the deficit to 3-1 with his headed goal.
However, León continued to control the game and Atlas was unable to fight back any further. Then, in the final minutes, Andrés Andrade put the icing on the cake with his half-volley to make it 4-1.
With the 4-1 win, León reaches seven points while Atlas remains on 10.
