Tigres UANL remained unbeaten this season with their 0-2 victory over Monarcas Morelia.

Necaxa’s 2-1 victory over Santos Laguna moved the Rayos out of last place in the Tabla de Cociente for the first time this season; Monarcas Morelia’s loss dropped them into last, while relegation rivals Puebla also lost and Veracruz won.

América’s four goals this weekend gave them the best attacking record in the league with 16 goals this season. They’re followed by Morelia with 15. The worst attack belongs to Jaguares, who have scored just four goals to date, followed by Santos Laguna with five.

In total, 27 goals were scored in Jornada 8 for an average of 3 per game.

In terms of individual goalscoring, Dayro Moreno (Tijuana) continues to lead the league with his seven goals, followed by Silvio Romero (América), Raúl Ruidíaz (Morelia), and Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey), who all have five.

On the other end of the field, the best defense is still Tigres’, with just three goals allowed, followed by Tijuana with five. América and Morelia are tied for the worst defenses with 15 goals conceded, followed by León and Jaguares with 14 each.

On the disciplinary side of things, the referees handed out 35 yellow cards and two reds, to Cruz Azul and Morelia. Jaguares still top the Fair Play table with their 11 yellows (the fewest in the league) and no reds, while Veracruz is at the foot of the Fair Play standings with their 21 yellow cards and four reds (the most in the league). Tijuana has received the most yellows to date with 25.

The total announced attendance for Jornada 8 was 224,985, for an average of 24,998 per game. Monterrey vs Tijuana in the Estadio BBVA Bancomer drew the biggest crowed, of 50,045, while just 12,782 were in the Estadio Cuauhtémoc to see Puebla vs Toluca.
