Chivas looked the much better team in the first half, with Orbelín Pineda finding the first chance just moments into the match. It didn’t take long for El Rebaño to open the scoring, with Carlos Cisneros scoring a golazo in the 8th minute to make it 1-0.
The hosts added to their lead in the 26th minute, when Michael Pérez received the ball outside the box and sent a chipped pass into the area for Isaác Brizuela, whose volleyed finish made it 2-0.
Jaguares, who have struggled to score this season, were unable to muster much of a response as they suffered their fifth shutout of the season.
It was all Chivas for the rest of the half – and the rest of the game – as Guadalajara generated a number of chances to run up the score. Ángel Zaldívar in particular let a great opportunity escape after he went one-on-one with the keeper but waited too long to get his shot away.
Alan Pulido made his debut with Chivas when he came on for Zaldívar in the 59th minute, and he created a few chances of his own.
With the 2-0 win, Chivas reaches 14 points while Jaguares remain on four.
