Pumas had the first chance of the game through Matías Britos, who followed up on a great save by Tiago Volpi by hitting the post. However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring. In the 26th minute, Jonathan Bornstein found Neri Cardozo, who beat Alejandro Palacios to make it 0-1.
The universitarios tied it up just five minutes later, however, with Pablo Barrera heading home a cross from Fidel Martínez in the 32nd minute.
Querétaro nearly retook the lead just before halftime, when Ángel Sepúlveda saw his header crash against the crossbar.
Then, just two minutes into the second half, Javier Cortés made it 2-1 for the hosts with a shot that took a deflection off Jaime Gómez to wrong-foot Tiago Volpi.
Pumas added to their lead in the final stages of the game, with Abraham González finishing off a pass from Luis Fernando Fuentes in the 85th minute before Josécarlos van Rankin wrapped up the scoring after a give-and-go with Matías Britos in the 89th.
With the 4-1 win, Pumas reach 14 points while Querétaro remains on nine.
