The Belize team had yet to score a goal going into this game, while Pachuca had yet to concede one. The Mexicans controlled the match from the beginning and it didn’t take long for the Tuzos to overwhelm their hosts.
It took 22 minutes for Pachuca to open the scoring, but once they did the goals came in rapid succession. After Mateus Goncalves made it 0-1 with his left-footed shot, Franco Jara made it 0-2 in the 26th minute with a tap-in. Hirving Lozano then scored the first of his eventual four in the 29th minute.
It was 0-5 before halftime, with Lozano adding another in the 34th before Rubén Botta got on the scoresheet in the 43rd.
The Argentinian scored shortly after halftime as well, making it 0-6 in the 50th minute with a quick free kick that surprised the goalkeeper. There was a bit of a lull after that before “Chucky” scored his third – Pachuca’s seventh – in the 68th minute.
That set off another burst of goals, with Joaquín Esquivel heading home his first in the 72nd before Lozano scored yet again in the 78th. Esquivel then brought the lead into double digits in the 84th minute with another header.
Erick Gutiérrez wrapped up the scoring in the 87th minute with his low shot to make it 0-11 for the visitors.
