Jaguares de Chiapas 2-2 Chivas de Guadalajara – Group 2
With advancement to the knockout rounds already assured for both clubs, Jaguares de Chiapas and Chivas de Guadalajara played out a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.
Alonso Escoboza gave Jaguares the lead from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after Oswaldo Alanís was sanctioned for a foul. But Chivas tied it up through Carlos Salcido’s header in the 32nd minute before Alan Pulido converted a PK to put the visitors ahead just two minutes after that. Then, in the second half, Escoboza finished off his brace to level the match in the 72nd minute.
With the 2-2 draw, Jaguares reach six points while Chivas reaches five.
Toluca 2-1 Tijuana – Group 6
Toluca beat Tijuana 2-1 on Wednesday night to claim first place in the group and a spot in the knockout rounds. The loss sees the Xolos finish third in the group and ends their participation in the Copa MX.
The Diablos Rojos opened the scoring in the 7th minute, when Antonio Pedroza drove into the box and beat Gibrán Lajúd, who touched the ball put couldn’t keep it out, to give the hosts the 1-0 lead. Later in the half, Tijuana thought they had an equalizer, but the would-be goal was disallowed for offside.
In the second half, the Xolos did tie it up. Víctor Malcorra hit the crossbar with his shot from distance, but the rebound hit goalkeeper Luis García and bounced into the net to make it 1-1 in the 70th minute. However, Toluca retook the lead in the 82nd, when Diego Gama’s low shot made it 2-1.
With the 2-1 win, Toluca reaches seven points while Tijuana remains on four.
Leones Negros 5-0 Coras Tepic – Group 3
Leones Negros earned their first win of the group stage in comprehensive fashion, with a 4-0 thrashing of Coras Tepic enough to give the UdeG a spot in the round of sixteen. Coras was eliminated.
The hosts opened the scoring in just the 7th minute through Obed Estrada and Ismael Valadez made it 2-0 soon after. Leones took complete control with Adrián Villalobos’s goal in the 38th minute to give them a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Their domination continued in the second half, with Jesús Vázquez scoring their fourth just minutes after the restart. Óscar Becerra wrapped up the scoring in the 85th minute to make it 5-0.
With the 5-0 win, Leones Negros reach four points while Coras remains on three.
