Cruz Azul took an early lead and this weekend they held on to it as they defeated Jaguares de Chiapas 0-3. The loss is a fourth consecutive one for Jaguares, who remain at the foot of the table, while La Máquina remained unbeaten on the road with tonight’s result.
The visitors took the lead in just the fourth minute, after a turnover in midfield sent Cruz Azul flying forward into attack. Joao Rojas played in Rosario Cota, who scored his first goal in Liga MX with a right-footed shot to make it 0-1.
Jaguares, who have scored a league-low four goals this season, struggled to get anything going as they looked for an equalizer. The closest they came was a shot from Jonathan Fabbro that was deflected wide.
In the second half, Cruz Azul scored an insurance goal in the 50th minute when Enzo Roco out-jumped his marker to make it 0-2.
The visitors continued to control the game after that, with Jaguares utterly unable to respond. In the final moments of the match, Joao Rojas put the cherry on top of the win when a pass from Erick Torres put him one-on-one with the goalkeeper, who he beat to make it 0-3.
With the 0-3 win, Cruz Azul reaches 11 points while Jaguares remain on four.
