Puebla vs Pachuca – Jornada 12 Recap and Highlights

puebla-pachuca2Puebla took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Pachuca scored a stoppage-time equalizer to draw 1-1. The result keeps Puebla unbeaten in three while the Tuzos are now unbeaten in four.

The hosts started the game off well and they should have opened the scoring in the 14th minute. The Poblanos won a free kick, which led to three chances in quick succession as Robert Herrera brought the ball down in the box, Matías Alustiza hit the crossbar, and Jerónimo Amione saw his follow-up attempt cleared off the line by Omar González with the goalkeeper beaten.

Pachuca quickly found a chance at the other end through Hirving Lozano, but Cristian Campestrini was there to send the ball out for a corner kick. Then, in the 33rd minute, Campestrini came up big again as he denied Jonathan Urretaviscaya from a free kick.

In the second half, Puebla took the lead. With Pachuca caught upfield, Amione led a quick counterattack, ending when he slid the ball over to Alustiza, who danced past Emmanuel García and sent his low shot into the corner to make it 1-0 in the 66th minute.

Pachuca threw numbers forward as they looked for an equalizer – even going so far as to convert Omar González into a striker for the final stages – but they were repeatedly denied.

Then, in the 93rd minute, Campestrini came off his line but failed to get the ball. González headed it across the six-yard box, and Rubén Botta was there to stab it home and level the game at the death.

With the 1-1 draw, Puebla reaches 16 points while Pachuca reaches 21.
