Elías Hernández Out of October Friendlies with Injury

red crossElías Hernández has withdrawn from the Mexico squad that will face New Zealand and Panama in friendlies due to injury.

The León midfielder will miss the games, on October 8th and 11th, respectively, due to patellar tendinitis, an injury to the tendon that connects the kneecap (patella) to the shin bone.

It results in pain, swelling, and stiffness but is generally a short-term concern.

Hernández is being evaluated by the national team’s medical staff in Mexico City to determine the severity of the injury.

No one will be called up to replace Hernández, who is the second player to withdraw from the roster – Ángel Sepúlveda of Querétaro was injured as well and replaced by Jesús Gallardo of Pumas UNAM.
