Tijuana vs Jaguares de Chiapas – Jornada 14 Recap and Highlights

tijuana jaguaresTijuana remained perfect at home in the Apertura 2016 with a 2-0 victory over Jaguares de Chiapas. The loss is a third consecutive one for Jaguares, who are now winless in their last 11 matches.

The Xolos took the lead early on. In the 7th minute, Gabriel Hauche got free on the right wing and sent a cross into the box. Milton Caraglio was there to head it home and give Tijuana the 1-0 advantage.

Tijuana had the ball in the back of the net again in the 40th minute, but the would-be goal was disallowed for offside.

Jaguares had a pair of good opportunities to tie the game, one on either side of halftime, but first Dieter Villalpando and then Luis Mendoza failed to capitalize on their chances with the goal at their mercy.

Tijuana finally put the game away in the 80th minute. Egidio Arévalo played the ball back to goalkeeper Federico Crivelli, whose attempted clearance went straight into the onrushing Caraglio. With the ball rebounding towards goal, Crivelli managed to claw it away but only as far as Dayro Moreno, who had an easy finish to make it 2-0.

That goal took the fight out of Jaguares, who remain rooted to the foot of the table.

With the 2-0 win, Tijuana reaches 30 points while Jaguares remain on six.
