Apertura 2016 Week 16 Preview: Friday’s Game

liga mxTijuana vs Tigres UANL – 11:00 PM – Azteca America
Tijuana (1st) beat Toluca 0-1 last weekend to give them back-to-back wins. The Xolos are still unbeaten and in fact perfect at home this season, with seven straight wins in the Estadio Caliente, and they will look to extend that streak in their final regular-season home game. Even more impressive than the winning streak is the dominance they’ve shown during it: Tijuana has allowed just one goal at home all season.

As for Tigres UANL (3rd), the universitarios drew 1-1 with Monterrey in last weekend’s Clásico Regio to keep them unbeaten in two. Tigres have all-but-guaranteed themselves a spot in the playoffs and a point here would make it mathematically official. They’ve done quite well on the road this season – they actually have more wins on the road than at home – and they’ve only lost one away game to date. They’ll look to break down Tijuana’s stingy defense in this one.
