Pumas UNAM vs Monarcas Morelia – 1:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Pumas UNAM (6th) beat Veracruz 1-4 last weekend to end their season-long road winless streak. They’ll now return to the Estadio Olimpico Universitario, where they enjoyed a six-game winning streak before falling to Tigres in their last home game. Pumas will look to get back to winning ways here in their final home game of the regular season. A win would also go a long way towards assuring the universitarios a spot in the playoffs.
As for Monarcas Morelia (12th), the michoacanos beat Necaxa 2-1 last weekend to snap a five-game winless streak. That victory was enough to lift them off the foot of the relegation standings and they’ll look for another win here to ensure it remains that way. Morelia is also involved in the playoff fight and they need a positive result in this one to keep their Liguilla hopes alive.
Santos Laguna vs Jaguares de Chiapas – 7:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Santos Laguna (16th) fell 3-1 to América last weekend to keep them winless in six. The Laguneros have long since been eliminated from playoff contention and are now playing just to stay off the foot of the table. Santos has scored the second-fewest goals in the league while allowing the third-most. They’ve struggled even at home, where they have just two wins this season.
As for Jaguares de Chiapas (18th), they fell 1-2 to Querétaro last weekend to extend their losing streak to four games and their winless streak to twelve. Jaguares have been rooted to the foot of the table all season and even a win here is unlikely to be enough to lift them out of last place. They have yet to win on the road this season and have earned just one point from their seven away matches. And while Santos has the second-worst attack in the league, they’ve still scored nearly twice as many goals as Jaguares.
