Ten-man Necaxa held on for a 1-1 draw against Chivas de Guadalajara that guarantees them a spot in the playoffs. Chivas was already qualified for the Liguilla, and the result sets up a meeting with rivals América in the quarterfinals.
The visiting Rayos took the lead in just the 13th minute. Jesús Isijara found Fernando Meza, and the Argentinian buried his effort to make it 0-1 for Necaxa.
But Chivas leveled the game just past the half-hour mark. In the 32nd minute, Alan Pulido scored a golazo of a free kick to make it 1-1.
The night quickly got worse for Necaxa, as Edson Puch was issued yellow cards in the 35th and 40th minutes, leaving the visitors to see out the rest of the game with just 10 men.
With the numerical advantage, Chivas controlled the second half while Necaxa had to content themselves with chances on the counter. But despite out-shooting the visitors 14-6 over the course of the match, Chivas was unable to complete the comeback.
With the 1-1 draw, Chivas reaches 28 points while Necaxa reaches 26.
