Paco Jémez Announced as Coach of Cruz Azul

After days of rumors, Cruz Azul has officially announced Francisco Jémez Martín, better known as Paco Jémez, as the new coach of La Máquina.

Jémez, age 46, most recently coached Granada in his native Spain. In fact, all of his coaching experience is in Spain, where he also oversaw Rayo Vallencano, Las Palmas, Cartagena, Córdoba, and Alcalá.

Cruz Azul will be his first experience with Mexican soccer, and he will be La Máquina’s first Spanish coach.

In a press release, the club stated that Jémez “became the best option” due to his proposal to work with both the first team and the youth teams, as well as his “quality and experience” as coach.
