Marco Antonio “Pikolín” Palacios has announced his retirement from professional soccer. The 35-year-old defender spent the majority of his career at Pumas UNAM with his twin brother, goalkeeper Alejandro Palacios, but he ended it at Monarcas Morelia.

Palacios attempted to transfer back to Pumas for one last season as a universitario, but when he was unable to do so, he decided to end his 13-year career.

Palacios won four league titles with Pumas (the Clausura 2004, Apertura 2004, Clausura 2009, and Clausura 2011) and was part of the first team to become bicampeón after Liga MX went to short seasons.

He appeared in 317 Liga MX matches and scored eight goals.
