Santos Laguna had a poor Apertura 2016 season as they finished in 14th, well outside of the playoff places. They also slipped in the Tabla de Cociente that controls relegation, and they are currently 13th there.
As they look to improve in the Clausura 2017 season, Santos has brought in five players to date.
Joining the team on permanent transfers are goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco (Monterrey), defender Ventura Alvarado (América), midfielder Osvaldo Martínez (América), and forward Julio César Furch (Veracruz).
Arriving on loan is midfielder Jorge Enríquez (Coras Tepic).
In terms of departures, quite a few players have left the club. Departing on permanent deals were Agustín Marchesín (América), Jesús Molina (Monterrey), and Fredy Hinestroza, Kristian Álvarez, and Martín Bravo (all to Veracruz).
Leaving on loan were Juan Pablo Rodríguez (Monarcas Morelia), Néstor Calderón (Chivas), Bryan Rabello (Pumas UNAM), Francisco Torres (Puebla), Carlos Orrantia (Puebla), and Javier Orozco (Veracruz).
