Pachuca had several good chances in the early going, primarily through Lozano, but when the opening goal came it came for the hosts. In the 9th minute, León made it 1-0 through Fernando Navarro, who chipped Óscar Pérez to give La Fiera the lead.
It didn’t take long for the Tuzos to respond, however, and in the 17th minute Lozano tied it up with a golazo. “Chucky” made some space for himself at the top of the box and sent a rocket past William Yarbrough to make it 1-1.
Another golazo restored León’s lead in the 22nd minute, as Maxi Moralez volleyed home a cross to make it 2-1.
Then, in the 24th minute, referee Alejandro Funk Villafañe controversially awarded a penalty after Franco Jara went down in the box. Jara himself stepped up to take the spot kick, and he converted it to make it 2-2.
In the 76th minute, Lozano gave Pachuca the lead for the first time with his second goal of the game. Lozano ran on to a long pass and went one-on-one with Yarbrough before sliding his low shot into the back of the net to make it 2-3.
Then, in the 87th minute, Lozano added an insurance goal as he completed his hat-trick and made it 2-4 for the Tuzos in similar fashion, as he got behind the defense with a long pass and beat Yarbrough one-on-one.
With the 2-4 win, Pachuca reaches three points while León remains on zero.
