Novaretti Given Six-Game Suspension

disciplinary reportThe Disciplinary Committee opened an investigation earlier this week into an incident between León’s Diego Novaretti and Pachuca’s Hirving Lozano, in which Novaretti spat at the Pachuca player.

The incident was missed by the referees, but captured by television cameras, which is what provoked the investigation.

The Disciplinary Committee has now reached a conclusion and has suspended Diego Novaretti for six games, as well as handed out an unspecified fine, for “infringing article 17 number 3 of the Regulations for Sanctions (spitting at an opponent)”.

León will therefore be without Novaretti for Jornadas 2-7. He will be eligible to return in Jornada 8 in late February.
