Toluca vs Jaguares de Chiapas – 1:00 PM – Univision / Univision Deportes
Toluca (1st) beat América 2-1 last weekend in the re-opening of the newly renovated Estadio Nemesio Diez. The Diablos Rojos are one of just two perfect teams through the first two weeks of the season, and they’ll look for a third consecutive league win in this one. They won in midweek as well, where they defeated Celaya 0-2 in the Copa MX. Toluca also has the highest-scoring attack in the league with six goals to date.
As for Jaguares de Chiapas (16th), they fell 1-0 to Pachuca last weekend to remain winless this season, although they’ve only played one league game to date. Jaguares are quite low in the relegation standings and they need to start picking up points as soon as possible. They will look to build confidence by, at the very least, scoring in this game – they had by far the worst attack in the league last season. They also suffered a shutout loss in midweek when they fell 1-0 to Potros UAEM in the Copa MX.
Puebla vs Querétaro – 7:00 PM – Univision Deportes
Puebla (18th) fell 6-2 to Tijuana last weekend to remain winless this season. Puebla has conceded the most goals in the league, shipping nine in just two games, and their first priority will be improving their defense. They’re right in the middle of the relegation conversation and so pressure is high to earn their first league win. They are currently winless in all competitions after drawing 1-1 with Mineros de Zacatecas in the Copa MX in midweek.
As for Querétaro (13th), the Gallos Blancos drew 0-0 with Morelia last weekend to earn their first point of the season. Querétaro is still winless in league play though, and they also have yet to record a goal. However, they both scored and won in midweek as they defeated Cruz Azul 3-2 in the Copa MX. They’ll look to continue that form and take advantage of Puebla’s porous defense to get their first Liga MX win in this one.
