Santos started the game off brightly with a chance in the first minute. After winning an early corner kick, Carlos Izquierdoz tried to finish off the set piece, only for Cristian Campestrini to make a good save.
A minute later, the goalkeeper was called on again to stop Djaniny on a one-on-one situation.
Santos controlled possession and sent wave after wave of attack towards Puebla’s goal. In the 24th minute, they found the breakthrough as Néstor Araujo headed home a cross from Walter Sandoval.
With the scoreline against them, Puebla tried to organize in search of an equalizer. They started to keep possession and generate a few chances of their own, with Alexis Canelo trying a scissor kick that required the intervention of Jonathan Orozco.
In the second half, Santos poured the pressure on again while Puebla tried their luck primarily through crosses into the box. Federico González met one of them with a header, but he was unable to put it on target.
Then, in the 81st minute, Carlos Izquierdoz put the game out of reach when he headed home a corner kick to make it 2-0.
With the 2-0 win, Santos reaches eight points while Puebla remains on one.
