Yasser Corona’s Tuesday night started well, with a goal in Tijuana’s Copa MX match against Correcaminos. It ended with him leaving the field in an ambulance after a heavy collision knocked him unconscious.
Imaging studies showed that Corona had damaged one of the discs in his cervical spine (his neck), and he underwent surgery on Wednesday to address the issue.
Tijuana reported that Corona had spacers, a titanium plate, and four screws inserted in his cervical spine and that the defender is stable. The club expects to have more information about his condition and estimated recovery time in the next 24 hours.
