Monterrey and Santos Laguna remained unbeaten and are the last undefeated teams remaining, while Querétaro and Puebla are still winless.

In the relegation fight, Monarcas Morelia remained last in the Tabla de Cociente with their 0-2 loss to América, while relegation rivals Veracruz won, Puebla drew, and Jaguares de Chiapas lost.

The league’s best attack is Tijuana’s, with 12 goals for, followed by Monterrey with eight. Querétaro has the worst attacking record, although they did finally find the net this week to give them one goal for the season; they’re followed by Jaguares, with two.

In total, 21 goals were scored in Jornada 5 for an average of 2.3 per game.

In terms of individual goal-scoring, Milton Caraglio and Avilés Hurtado (Tijuana) joined Hirving Lozano (Pachuca) and Alexis Canelo (Puebla) as the highest scorers with three goals each. That quartet is followed by  14 players with two goals apiece.

On the other end of the field, Toluca, Santos, Veracruz, Jaguares, and Querétaro are all tied for the best defensive record with three goals against. The worst defense belongs to Puebla, with 12 goals conceded, followed by León with nine.

On the disciplinary side of things, the referees handed out 38 yellows and two reds, to Toluca and Santos. Jaguares continue to top the Fair Play standings with their seven yellows and no reds, while Toluca is at the foot of the Fair Play table with their 19 yellows (the most in the league) and one red. Monterrey has received the fewest yellows to date, with six, but they’re tied with Chivas for most red cards with two.

The total announced attendance for Jornada 5 was 228,970, for an average of 25,441 per game. Tigres UANL vs Toluca in the Volcán drew the biggest crowd, of 41,539, while just 16,758 were in the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente to see Veracruz vs Jaguares.
