Violence In the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente

Logo VeracruzFollowing Tigres UANL’s 3-0 away win against Veracruz, a huge fight broke out in the stands, with the violence throwing a shadow over what had been an entertaining game.

After the loss, some of the Tiburones Rojos supporters climbed over the barriers around the section where the away fans were located and began to hit and kick the Tigres fans and throw bottles at them.

Police inaction in the face of the violence – which went so far as to include someone being beaten with a pipe – infuriated Tigres coach Tuca Ferretti, who shoved and shouted at an officer in riot gear who was standing on the field watching the events in the stands.

The Liga MX Disciplinary Committee has opened an investigation into the incidents.
