Cruz Azul and Tigres UANL played out a 0-0 draw on Saturday night that leaves La Máquina with just one win in their last nine. Meanwhile, the universitarios extended their unbeaten streak to four games.
Both teams had chances in the first half, but the final touch was lacking. Martín Cauteruccio was particularly profligate for Cruz Azul, as the Uruguayan failed to capitalize on no fewer than three good opportunities.
For Tigres, it was Jürgen Damm who was wasteful with his chances as Jesús Corona came out on top of a one-on-one chance.
In the second half, Christian Giménez found Cauteruccio in the box in the 57th minute, but the striker once again let the opportunity go begging.
Tigres tried their luck with the speed of Luis Quiñones, but Corona was again alert to the danger. In the end, neither side was able to break the deadlock.
With the 0-0 draw, Cruz Azul reaches 10 points while Tigres reach 12.
