Querétaro jumped out to an early lead just three minutes into the game. Yerson Candelo beat John Stefan Medina to a cross and finished it off to give the Gallos Blancos the 1-0 lead.
It didn’t take long for Querétaro to add a second. In the 10th minute, Édgar Benítez played in Neri Cardozo, whose one-touch finish from the top of the box made it 2-0 for the hosts.
Pachuca threw numbers forward in search of a response, but Querétaro managed the game well and the Tuzos were unable to generate any truly incisive attacks. It wasn’t until the second half that the visitors began to challenge Tiago Volpi, but the Brazilian netminder was able to preserve the clean sheet.
Substitute Camilo Sanvezzo put the final nail in the coffin just a minute after entering the game. In the 82nd minute, he received the ball just outside the box, spun around his defender, and shot past Óscar Pérez to make it 3-0.
With the 3-0 win, Querétaro reaches 15 points while Pachuca still has 17.
