Márquez and Damm Ruled Out Against Trinidad and Tobago

The Mexican national team has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago for their World Cup qualifying game, but neither Rafael Márquez nor Jürgen Damm made the trip.

Damm suffered an injury late in Friday’s game against Costa Rica, and after evaluation it was determined that the muscle strain would keep him out of Tuesday’s qualifier. Damm has returned to Monterrey to start treatment with his club.

Márquez was ruled out with lower back pain; the national team medical staff and his club determined that it was better for Márquez to avoid the long trip to the islands that could aggravate the complaint. Márquez has returned to his club to recover.

No replacement has been called up for either player, which leaves El Tri with just 22 players on the roster for this game in Port of Spain.
