América vs Monterrey – Jornada 12 Recap and Highlights

América remained unbeaten at home this season with a 1-0 victory over Monterrey. The loss ends a two-game winning streak for the Rayados and keeps them winless on the road in four.

The first half was a largely even affair. Monterrey had the first chance in the 11th minute, but Agustín Marchesín sent Dorlan Pabon’s effort out for a corner kick. América then had a chance through Michael Arroyo in the 22nd minute, but after getting past César Montes he couldn’t beat Hugo González, who made the save.

In the second half, América was able to break the deadlock. In the 63rd minute, Oribe Peralta finished off a volley by Osmar Mares at the far post to make it 1-0 for the Águilas.

After falling behind, Monterrey began to control possession as they looked for a way back into the game. However, they were unable to create any dangerous chances, with América’s defense shutting down every attempt.

The Rayados had to content themselves with shots from distance that Marchesín easily dealt with, and the final whistle blew while they were still searching for that elusive goal.

With the 1-0 win, América reaches 17 points while Monterrey still has 19.
