Tigres UANL vs León – Jornada 12 Recap and Highlights

León earned their first win since January with a 0-1 away victory against Tigres UANL. The result still isn’t enough to lift La Fiera out of last place, however, while the universitarios are languishing mid-table and are now winless at home in three.

Tigres dominated possession in the first half, but they were unable to turn that into goals. Their best chance of the half came in the 31st minute following a throw-in, with Jesús Dueñas playing in Ismael Sosa. However, he sent his shot over the bar.

León had just one shot on goal in the first half, and Nahuel Guzmán was able to send it out for a corner kick.

Tigres made a halftime substitution as they looked to give their attack a new dimension, and the second half started off with higher intensity. The hosts were still unable to get past León’s defense, however, and then the visitors shocked the stadium by taking the lead completely against the run of play.

In the 66th minute, Luis Montes found Elías Hernández with a long ball, and he beat Guzmán with a diagonal shot to make it 0-1.

Tigres continued to control possession after falling behind, and they ratcheted up the intensity still further as they pressed for an equalizer. Nevertheless, despite their opportunities, Tigres were unable to find the breakthrough.

With the 0-1 win, León reaches nine points while Tigres remain on 12.
