Copa MX Semifinals: Monterrey vs Chivas de Guadalajara

Chivas de Guadalajara came from behind to beat Monterrey 1-2 in their Clausura 2017 Copa MX semifinal.

The hosts nearly snatched the lead just moments after the opening whistle, when a breakdown in the back for Chivas allowed Dorlan Pabón in on goal. However, the striker sent his shot over the net.

The Rayados kept the pressure on and in the 21st minute they opened the scoring. Pabón centered the ball for Rogelio Funes Mori, who lifted it over the keeper to make it 1-0.

Chivas came close to equalizing in the 27th minute, but Alexander Domínguez made the save on Néstor Calderón’s shot from outside the box.

In the second half, Chivas did find a tying goal, with Alan Pulido making it 1-1 in the 60th minute when he finished off a corner kick.

Then, in the 80th minute, Chivas won a penalty kick. Pulido took it and converted it to complete the comeback for El Rebaño as they took the late 1-2 lead.

With the 1-2 win, Chivas de Guadalajara advances to the final while Monterrey is eliminated.
