Atlas vs Santos Laguna – Jornada 14 Recap and Highlights

Santos Laguna took the early lead but Atlas scored late to tie it as this game finished 1-1. The result leaves both teams winless in two, but Atlas remains unbeaten at home in four and Santos is unbeaten in five overall.

The visitors took the lead in the 8th minute when Walter Sandoval took the ball into the box, got it back from Julio César Furch, and shot past Miguel Ángel Fraga to make it 0-1.

Santos looked the more comfortable side, despite being the away team, and Osvaldo Martínez had two good chances to add to the Laguneros’ lead when he found himself one-on-one with Fraga, but he couldn’t convert either opportunity.

Then, in the 64th minute, the visitors came as close as hitting the woodwork when Furch’s header crashed against the crossbar.

But Atlas made their own opportunities count and in the 81st minute they were able to tie the game. Luis Reyes played in Fidel Martínez, who controlled the ball and beat Jonathan Orozco to make it 1-1.

Santos nearly retook the lead in the 85th minute, but Leiton Jiménez was there to clear the ball practically off the line. Then, in the waning moments, Martínez had another opportunity for Atlas, but that time Orozco was able to make the save.

With the 1-1 draw, Atlas reaches 20 points while Santos reaches 21.
