Pachuca vs Chivas de Guadalajara – Jornada 14 Recap and Highlights

Pachuca’s goal drought has now stretched to five games as the Tuzos drew 0-0 with 10-man Chivas de Guadalajara. The result keeps Pachuca unbeaten at home this season but winless in five overall, while Chivas is now winless in two.

The hosts started the game off brightly as they looked to snap their poor run of form in front of their home crowd. But Rodolfo Cota was alert to the danger and the Chivas netminder turned into the star of the game for the visitors as he made a number of impressive saves to keep the game goalless.

The visitors had chances of their own, such as Ángel Zaldívar’s attempt in the 24th minute after he got behind the defense, but Óscar Pérez was there to intervene. Orbelín Pineda and Néstor Calderón also had chances for Chivas, but the breakthrough wouldn’t come.

In the second half, Pachuca began to dominate in earnest and they created chance after chance, only to be thwarted by Cota time and again.

The game got more complicated for Chivas in the 72nd minute, when Michael Pérez – who had entered the game just six minutes earlier – was given a straight red card for a foul on Erick Aguirre.

But ultimately Pachuca was unable to take advantage of their man advantage, as Cota made save after save to keep them from taking the lead. Franco Jara had a chance to win it for the Tuzos in stoppage time, but his header went agonizingly wide.

With the 0-0 draw, Pachuca reaches 20 points while Chivas reaches 25.
