Clausura 2017 Relegation Watch: Three Games Remaining

With three games left to play in the Clausura 2017 season, there are four teams still mathematically involved in the relegation fight: Veracruz, Monarcas Morelia, Jaguares de Chiapas, and Puebla.

Current relegation standings:

# Team Points Games Average
15 Puebla 118 99 1.1919
16 Monarcas Morelia 112 99 1.1313
17 Jaguares de Chiapas 112 99 1.1313
18 Veracruz 111 99 1.1212

Puebla is on the verge of mathematically guaranteeing their safety; the Poblanos will definitively avoid relegation with a win this weekend or with a Veracruz loss or with a draw if Veracruz fails to win.

Just one point separates the other three teams in the relegation fight, however, and any of them – Morelia, Jaguares, and Veracruz – could end the weekend in last place in the Tabla de Cociente.

Morelia started the season there, and they remained last until Week 9, when they moved above Veracruz for the first time. Since then, it has been the Tiburones Rojos stuck in last place, but they’ve been closing the gap on Morelia and Jaguares, who have been sliding down the Tabla de Cociente since Week 8.

All four teams in the relegation fight are away this weekend; the matches to watch are:

Querétaro vs Jaguares de Chiapas
León vs Puebla
Necaxa vs Monarcas Morelia
Pumas UNAM vs Veracruz
