Chivas de Guadalajara took a late lead but León scored an even later equalizer as this one finished 1-1. The result keeps Chivas winless in four – but nevertheless is enough to ensure that El Rebaño will be present in the Liguilla – while León remains unbeaten in six.
Both teams had chances in the first half. Mauro Boselli looked particularly dangerous for the visitors, while Chivas came as close as hitting the woodwork when Eduardo López was stopped by the crossbar in the 25th minute. Nevertheless, the game was still goalless at halftime.
In the second half, the game maintained its rhythm but the final product was still lacking. Finally, in the 76th minute, Chivas had the chance to open the scoring from the spot.
Referee Miguel Ángel Flores had initially ruled the foul occurred outside the box, but after consulting assistant Salvador Rodríguez, the penalty kick was awarded. Oswaldo Alanís stepped up to take the spot kick and he converted it to make it 1-0 for the hosts.
León continued to press, however, and in the 84th minute Mauro Boselli put them back on level footing when he swept home a low cross from Andrés Andrade.
With the 1-1 draw, Chivas reaches 26 points while León reaches 20.
