Clausura 2017 Week 16 Statistics

Tijuana remained first in the table despite their 3-0 loss to Tigres UANL, while Puebla remained last with their 0-1 loss to Necaxa.

Atlas, Chivas de Guadalajara, and Santos Laguna have joined Tijuana, Monterrey, and Toluca as teams with a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, while Cruz Azul, Pumas UNAM, Jaguares de Chiapas, and Puebla are all out of playoff contention.

In the relegation fight, Jaguares dropped into last place in the Tabla de Cociente despite their 2-2 draw with Santos; relegation will come down to Jaguares and Monarcas Morelia, with Veracruz and Puebla mathematically assuring their safety this weekend.

The best attacking record is still Tijuana’s, with 29 goals for, followed by Monterrey with 25. The worst attack is still Pachuca’s, with 13 goals, followed by Veracruz with 14.

In total, 25 goals were scored in Jornada 16 for an average of 2.8 per game.

In terms of individual goalscoring, Avilés Hurtado (Tijuana), Matías Alustiza (Atlas), Oribe Peralta (América), Raúl Ruidíaz (Morelia), and Nicolás Castillo (Pumas) are all tied for the league lead with eight goals apiece.

On the other end of the field, the best defensive record belongs to Tigres, with 11 goals against, followed by Pachuca with 14. The worst defense belongs to Pumas, with 29 goals conceded, followed by Jaguares with 28.

On the disciplinary side of things, the referees handed out 31 yellow cards and just one red, to Monterrey. Jaguares continue to top the Fair Play table with their 25 yellows and no reds, while Toluca is at the foot of the Fair Play standings with their 42 yellows and three reds. Santos has the fewest cautions to date, with 23, while Morelia has the most with 47. Chivas has the most reds, with five.

The total announced attendance for Jornada 16 was 286,962, for an average of 31,885 per game. Tigres vs Tijuana in the Volcán drew the biggest crowd, of 41,217, while just 24,749 were in the Estadio Nemesio Diez to see Toluca vs Querétaro.
