Days after announcing the departure of Alfonso Sosa as part of “a process of renovation”, Necaxa has announced Ignacio Ambriz as the new head coach of the Rayos.

Ambriz, 52, represented Necaxa in his playing days, making 282 appearances for the Rayos over a ten-year span and winning two league titles, a CONCACAF Recopa, and a Copa México with the club.
He will now look to replicate some of that success from the sidelines.
“It fills me with joy to return to the club that gave me the chance to play soccer, where I was able to win championships, and that today gives me the chance to wear these colors again,” Ambriz said in a press conference announcing his appointment as coach. “I know that it is a great commitment and I am going to dedicate body and soul to making this team a team that always goes out to give the best of itself.”
