Corona Out, Cota In for Mexico

José de Jesús Corona missed Cruz Azul’s final league game of the season with a knee injury, and that same injury will now keep him out of Mexico’s May and June matches.

Corona had been called up as part of the 32-man roster for El Tri’s upcoming busy schedule of friendlies, World Cup qualifiers, and Confederations Cup games, but further testing on his knee has ruled him out.

Juan Carlos Osorio has called up Chivas de Guadalajara’s Rodolfo Cota as Corona’s replacement. Chivas is involved in the Liga MX final, which concludes Sunday, May 28th, so Cota will not be available for Mexico’s first friendly against Croatia.
