Monterrey Given One-Game Stadium Ban

Following an investigation into fan behavior, the Disciplinary Committee has fined Monterrey and given the club a one-game stadium ban.

At the conclusion of Monterrey’s 0-2 loss to Tigres UANL in the second leg of their quarterfinal series (Tigres won 6-1 on aggregate), there were “incidents in the stands and exit areas of the Estadio BBVA Bancomer between fans of both teams”.

For violating Article 51 of the Regulations for Sanctions, the Rayados have been fined an undisclosed amount and given a one-game stadium ban on the Estadio BBVA Bancomer.

Monterrey will thus have the choice of playing their next home game behind closed doors in the BBVA Bancomer or finding an alternative venue for the game to allow fans to attend.
