Mexico has announced their preliminary 40-man roster for the 2017 Gold Cup. The preliminary roster will be whittled down to 23 players, with the final roster due to be submitted to CONCACAF by June 27.
The Gold Cup will run from July 7th to 26th. El Tri was drawn into Group C, alongside El Salvador, Curaçao, and Jamaica.
The preliminary roster includes some overlap with the 23-man roster named earlier this week for the 2017 Confederations Cup, but most players are unlikely to feature in both tournaments.
The complete preliminary roster is as follows:
Goalkeepers (5): Moisés Muñoz, José de Jesús Corona, Miguel Ángel Fraga, Jonathan Orozco, Rodolfo Cota.
Defenders (15): Raúl López, Luis Rodríguez, Rodrigo Salinas, Jorge Torres Nilo, Alejandro Mayorga, Jesús Molina, Oswaldo Alanís, Carlos Vargas, Hedgardo Marín, Hugo Ayala, César Montes, Luis Reyes, Néstor Araujo, Rafael Márquez, Jair Pereira.
Midfielders (9): Jesús Gallardo, Edson Álvarez, Jorge Hernández, Jesús Dueñas, Rodolfo Pizarro, Javier Salas, Jesús Isijara, Javier López, Walter Sandoval.
