The game started perfectly for the visitors, who opened the scoring just three minutes in. Brayan Garnica beat his defender and sent a cross into the box for Juan Pablo Vigón, whose header bounced past William Yarbrough to make it 0-1.
León looked for a response and they created a few opportunities with good play along the wings, particularly through Andrés Andrade, but the final touch was lacking and they went into halftime trailing.
Javier Torrente made a halftime sub as he looked to spark León’s offense, but La Fiera’s plans were derailed in the 58th minute when Diego Novaretti fouled José Madueña inside the box. That resulted in a red card for Novaretti and a penalty for Atlas, and Matías Alustiza converted the spot kick to make it 0-2 for the Rojinegros.
Down two goals and down a man, León was unable to react and it didn’t take Atlas long to run the score up further. In the 66th minute, Milton Caraglio was the beneficiary of a tight offside no-call as, completely unmarked, he received the ball from Madueña and made it 0-3.
With the 0-3 win, Atlas reaches three points while León still has zero.
