Óscar Pérez Sets Liga MX Record

Pachuca goalkeeper Óscar Pérez set a record for the most games played in Mexico’s first division this afternoon against Pumas UNAM.

That was Pérez’s 726th game in the first division, surpassing the 725 games that previous record-holder (and fellow goalkeeper) Oswaldo Sánchez played.

The 44-year-old goalkeeper was unable to celebrate that milestone with a win, however, as the Tuzos fell 1-0 to Pumas.

Pérez made his debut in August 1993 with Cruz Azul in a 0-0 draw against Atlas; since then, he has also suited up for Tigres UANL, Jaguares de Chiapas, Necaxa, San Luis, and Pachuca.
