All of the excitement came in the second half; after playing out a goalless 45 minutes, it took Lobos just three minutes to get on the board after the break. In the 48th minute, Julian Quiñones made it 1-0 for the licántropos with his header.
The hosts quickly added to their lead, with Juan Carlos Medina sending his volley past Óscar Pérez to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute. Luis Quiñones then appeared to put the game completely to bed with his shot from inside the box to make it 3-0 at the hour mark.
But a penalty kick gave Pachuca a lifeline in the 71st minute, with substitute Edson Puch converting the spot kick to make it 3-1 and give the Tuzos their first league goal of the Apertura.
There was still a lot of ground to make up, though, and although Jonathan Urretavisacaya managed to bring them back within touching distance when he finished off a counterattack in the 90th minute, there was not enough time left for Pachuca to find a third goal.
With the 3-2 win, Lobos reach seven points while Pachuca still has zero.
