Monarcas Morelia took the lead but couldn’t hold it as Pachuca came back for a 1-2 away win. The result is a second straight victory for the Tuzos and a second straight loss for Morelia, who remains winless in the Apertura 2017 season.
The visitors had the better of the chances in the early going, with Ángelo Sagal and Erick Gutiérrez getting involved in the attack. However, it was the hosts who opened the scoring. In the 33rd minute, Gastón Lezcano sent a cross into the box for Raúl Ruidíaz, who beat Alfonso Blanco to make it 1-0.
That lead lasted just four minutes, however, before Pachuca tied the game. In the 37th minute, Erick Aguirre played in Víctor Guzmán, who slipped through the defense to make it 1-1.
The Tuzos then went on to complete the comeback before halftime, with Guzmán getting on the board again. Jonathan Urretaviscaya sent a cross towards the back post and Guzmán headed it home to make it 1-2.
In the second half, Morelia began to gain more possession as they looked to find an equalizer. They had a few opportunities, with Rodolfo Vilchis and Mario Osuna forcing saves out of Blanco, but the Monarquía couldn’t find a second goal.
Meanwhile, Pachuca created some chances of their own, with one particularly notable one coming from some good individual play by Urretaviscaya, but they were unable to add an insurance goal.
With the 1-2 win, Pachuca reaches six points while Morelia still has three.
