Lobos BUAP vs América – Jornada 5 Recap

América extended their winning streak to four games with a 2-3 away win against Lobos BUAP. The result is a second straight loss for the licántropos and their first loss at home in the Estadio Universitario BUAP.

The visitors opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark, with William da Silva making it 0-1 in the 32nd minute. Before Lobos could react to falling behind, Carlos Darwin Quintero made it 0-2 in the 33rd.

But Lobos responded well and showed why they have the best attacking record in the league as Julian Quiñones reduced the deficit to 1-2 in the 40th minute with an impressive shot from inside the box. Lobos then won a penalty just before halftime, which Quiñones converted to make it 2-2.

But in the second half the Águilas reclaimed their lead. In the 52nd minute, Oribe Peralta put the visitors back in front as he made it 2-3.

Although América was then reduced to 10 men with the ejection of Edson Álvarez in the 68th minute, Lobos were unable to make their numerical advantage count as they failed to find another equalizer.

With the 2-3 win, América reaches 12 points while Lobos still have seven.
